You may already be aware of an ATO scam that is currently in operation.

The scammers call claiming to be from the ATO and then proceed to say that there is an outstanding debt owing to the ATO and you may be under investigation to be audited, facing criminal charges or that a warrant will be issued for your arrest.

They may demand a sum of money over the phone to avoid having to go to court.

Please note that as your Registered Tax Agent and Trusted Advisor, we are proactive and if there were any issue as serious as what they purport, we would have made contact with you personally. There is no reason for anyone from the ATO to contact you directly.

If you do receive one of these calls, do not take any action without speaking directly with us. Furthermore, ask for the persons contact number and name and say that you will call them back. Generally when you do this, they will terminate the call.

If you are ever unsure about a call that you receive or are concerned that something may not be legitimate, please contact us on (02) 8543 6800 to discuss the matter and we will take charge on your behalf. In any event, do not volunteer any information or agree to make any payment without discussing this with us.
